Spencer Co-Sponsors "Movies Under the Stars" with the Wallington Little League and Wallington Lions Club Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, recently co-sponsored "Movies Under the Stars" in Wallington for the first time, along with the Wallington Little League and Wallington Lions Club, at the Little League Field. The feature film was "Avatar" which drew a crowd of almost 600 people. It was the most attended "Movies Under The Stars" event in Spencer history! Volunteers from all three organizations served refreshments, freshly popped popcorn, hamburgers, hot dogs and much more to the crowd. Spencer Savings Bank Announces Winners of College Scholarships and Education Savings Accounts Spencer Savings Bank recently awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to middle school and high school students across the Spencer footprint. An award of $1,000 was given to each graduating high school student and a $500 Coverdell Education Savings Account (CESA) was awarded to each graduating middle school student, in recognition of their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Spencer Donates to Paterson Habitat for Humanity and Employees Spend Day Building New Home Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, collaborated with the Paterson Habitat for Humanity for a Build Day on Tuesday, June 22nd. This effort reflects the bank’s long-standing commitment to its local community and to creating opportunities that enrich the lives others. In addition to participating in the Build Day, Spencer made a $2,000 donation to the Paterson Habitat for Humanity. Spencer Savings Bank Raises $7,800 for Relay for Life Spencer Savings Bank was the main event sponsor of the 2010 Relay for Life of Clifton. The event took place on June 12th at the Clifton Stadium. This year’s theme was "Superheroes" and more than forty different teams were in attendance. Team Super-Spencer, consisting of 65 employees, family members and friends, raised a grand total of $7,800 for the American Cancer Society. Spencer Donates to Garfield Habitat for Humanity and Helps Build Home for Teenage Moms Spencer Savings Bank recently collaborated with the Garfield Habitat for Humanity for a Build Day on Friday, May 28th. This effort reflects the bank’s long-standing commitment to the community and to creating opportunities that enrich the lives of others. In addition to participating in the Build Day, Spencer made a $750 donation to the Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County. Spencer Teaches Children Savings In recognition of national "Teach Children to Save Day," Spencer bankers headed to various schools in Clifton, Garfield, Hasbrouck Heights and Lodi to teach elementary students about saving money. Branch Managers, Business Development Officers and Marketing taught almost 300 students a lesson on banking and the importance of saving money at an early age.
