SPENCER SAVINGS BANK DONATES $2,000 TO PATERSON HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND HELPS TO BUILD HOMES FOR LOCAL FAMILIES

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (June 17, 2009) – Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, NJ recently collaborated with the Paterson Habitat for Humanity for a Build Day on Wednesday, June 17th. This effort reflects the bank’s long-standing commitment to the community and to creating opportunities that enrich the lives of others. In addition to participating in the Build Day, Spencer made a $2,000 donation.

Spencer’s employee volunteers assisted in the building of a six-family townhouse unit, located on Madison Avenue, in Paterson. The bank’s team spent the afternoon nailing and hammering, as well as moving beams of wood. Upon completion, the Habitat will award these affordable townhouses to deserving local families, and they will be financed with zero percent mortgages.

"Working with Habitat for Humanity has been an honor; it makes me proud to see our employees rolling up their sleeves to give back," said Janel Bazih, Marketing Manager and Assistant Vice President of Spencer Savings Bank. "We are thrilled to have our employees contributing their sweat equity to help this community based organization."
