SPENCER DONATES TO GARFIELD HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND HELPS BUILD HOME FOR TEENAGE MOMS
ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (June 8, 2010) – Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, NJ, recently collaborated with the Garfield Habitat for Humanity for a Build Day on Friday, May 28th. This effort reflects the bank’s long-standing commitment to the community and to creating opportunities that enrich the lives of others. In addition to participating in the Build Day, Spencer made a $750 donation to the Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County.
Employee volunteers spent the day building the foundation of a new group home for Zoe’s Place in Garfield. This non-profit organization offers housing to homeless, pregnant teens and teen mothers. Upon completion, this facility will accommodate five teen mothers and their children. The Spencer team spent the afternoon doing light carpentry at the site.
"We are proud to be in a position to help such a noble organization as Habitat For Humanity," said Janel Bazih, Marketing Manager and Assistant Vice President of Spencer Savings Bank. "Zoe’s Place is doing lots of good work in the community, changing the lives of these young women and their children."
